A charming and whimsical vintage illustration inspired by the French folklore surrounding the origins of babies. Before the familiar story of storks delivering newborns became widespread after the Second World War, parents told children that babies came from cabbages or cauliflowers, depending on the region.
These delightful prints bring the folklore to life, depicting a farmer growing and harvesting his unusual crop while a couple browse the selection to choose their little one. The collection features a wonderfully playful assortment, with babies accompanied by dogs and even a monkey.
Dating to around the 1940s, these nostalgic illustrations offer a glimpse into a bygone era of European storytelling and make a distinctive addition to a nursery, gallery wall or eclectic interior.
Dimensions: 92 x 65cm
